The Queensland mines department have come a long way since years gone with our state being one of the few that require all Boulder Opal miners adhere to responsible & ethically sustainable mining practices, ensuring it is not just some working to restore our land.
Opal mines are predominantly small-scale operations (like ours, a small family business), we work much smaller scale areas than traditional large mining operations.
When we have completed work in an area, the entire space is backfilled in an appropriate manner that will allow the land to settle & for new flora to grow.
Our camp set up is completely self-sufficient, off the grid living. All of work/living whilst at our mine is done in a way that reduces environmental impact as much as possible.
