You can never have too many opals;
If you have ever heard the expressions “opal fever” or “opal bug” then you will know that this is in fact a real condition! One that often is passed down through the generations of family. This is the case for us.
I (Renée) come from a family full of members in the opal industry, starting back with my grandparents and almost all of their kids to follow entered into the industry in way or another.
Now here we (my husband Sean & I) are on our journey, with our business, within the Industry over the last decade (or so), taking on a whole new way of doing things.
We are a small family business who specialise in Australian Boulder Opal & its varying formations (learn more in our Education section).
Our knowledge, expertise & passion for cutting, mining & selling of Australia’s national gemstone has been handed down through the generations of my family, who this has not just been a job for, but who are all passionate in every sense of the way about Australian Opals.
Specifically it was my dad who has taught us (Sean & I) almost everything we know about opal. We may have picked up a few additional skills & knowledge along the way also.
We supply Boulder Opal lovers, almost all over the world, with responsibly sourced, natural, solid, untreated Australian Boulder Opal. The real deal only!
The majority of our Boulder Opals are direct from our Opal mine located in the Jundah region, Queensland Australia. This is a mine we work alongside my parents. Sean & I have also recently acquired another mine, this time within the Opalton region, Queensland Australia. We also support our fellow Boulder Opal miners & source opals we know you will love directly from them.
Whether from our mines, or from a fellow miner; once mined, its onto the really fun part of bringing the opals to life.
Taking the ironstone/sandstone boulders from their original state in the ground and starting the journey of processing down the rough material through precision decision making regards to sawing, cutting, shaping and then onto the finer details of the finish & polishing, all done by hand & using a variety of machinery to get the perfect, high quality professional finish.
